For the second year, the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade Summer Fancy Food Show is taking place in Washington DC. The show has been held in DC while the Jacob Javitts Center in New York is being renovated. The show returns to New York in 2013.
The Fancy Food Show is a trade only event, only businesses related to the specialty food industry may attend. The great thing is that so many products are showcased: from chia seeds, to jamon de jabugo, to baby food. You can pretty much find anything you can imagine here, and other things you can’t even imagine.
I walked the long aisles at the show, tasted and tested products, had a week’s worth of yogurt and ice cream in one day, and learned about many new and not so new specialty food products. Here are the ones I loved the most. These are probably already available at a store near you.
Delicious Products:
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams: Handmade ice creams in inventive flavors. They also have macaron ice cream sandwiches.
Peanut Butter & Co Cinnamon Raisin Swirl Peanut Butter: No Stir, all natural, and delicious. Did I say delicious?
Tonewood Maple Flakes: I want to sprinkle these on everything.
Morris Kitchen Syrups: Great to make cocktails, for cooking, or simply drizzled over ice cream.
Fun Products:
My Cup Of Cake Belgian Chocolate Souffle: Make your own, creamy, chocolatey, warm souffle in a mug.
I wasn’t able to make it this year. Thanks for the tips! Got anymore?
