New Orleans: The Roosevelt Hotel

At the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans, you get two fun places to visit in one location.

Roosevelt Hotel Lobby

Sazerac Bar

When walking into the Sazerac Bar you feel that you have stepped back in time. Dimmed lights and plush seating create an old world ambiance. Althought the Sazerac bar has an extensive cocktail menu, we asked our bartender, Caitlin, for a cocktail with citrus notes and she offered the Corpse Reviver #2: equal parts gin, Lillet blanc, lemon juice, Cointreau, 3 drops of absinthe or pastis, and one cherry. I was in heaven, I love Lillet and was thrilled to learn about a cocktail that included it as an ingredient. This became our nightly cocktail. We would go order it from the bar and then take it up the 4th floor and enjoy it on the outdoor pool deck, which remains open 24 hours a day.

Domenica
I love the menu at Domenica. It’s really delicious down home Italian cooking with a flair. We went for a quick dinner and shared savory meat balls with the creamiest polenta, wood grilled shrimp with preserved lemon, burrata on bruschetta drizzled with delicious olive oil, and a beautiful whole grilled fish.

I have loved cooking and baking since I was 5 years old. It was the one activity that I would share with all my extended family. Like most people, I love traveling. I love visiting the markets, exploring unknown ingredients, and bringing them back home with me for inspiration. I find that recipes with simple and pure ingredients yield the best results.
