New Orleans: Sucre

Sucre

Sucre is away from the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter. It offers desserts, gelato, chocolates, wine and cocktails, and my favorite: macarons. I think the pictures speak for themselves. The macarons were moist and flavorful. We were offered samples of the most delicious salted caramel chocolates. I regret not buying some to bring back with me, but was afraid they would melt the minute I stepped outside the door. Every time I was somewhere around Magazine Street, I would find an excuse to go inside Sucre: for a snack, a treat, a dessert, gelato to cool down, one lonely macaron, an evening cocktail, you name it. The staff must have thought I was stalking the macarons. Sucre is open Sunday-Thursday until 10pm, and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The best part about this wonderful place is that they ship their goodies! Follow Sucre on Twitter: @SucreNewOrleans.

I have loved cooking and baking since I was 5 years old. It was the one activity that I would share with all my extended family. Like most people, I love traveling. I love visiting the markets, exploring unknown ingredients, and bringing them back home with me for inspiration. I find that recipes with simple and pure ingredients yield the best results.
